One of my favorite things about the Bible is that it didnt come with pictures…But, I believe God gave us imaginations to help us fill in the gaps!
And, I plan on using my sketchbook to do just that.
Hi, I’m Kevin
Thanks for stopping by to learn a bit more about Sketchbook Bible Stories. I have often believed that if God is the one who gave me the gift for illustration, then it is my responsibility to use that gift to help tell His story…so that is just what I am doing.
Several years ago, while working as a Children’s Pastor, I had many kids say “Are you just making these stories up?” And it dawned on me that between clever gimmicks to make things “relatable”, and silly versions and tales that merely give a nod to the Bible stories…the ACTUAL Bible stories have gotten lost along the way.
Not too long ago, while planning to just draw out some of the Bible stories, I felt God nudging me, saying, I think you should draw the whole thing…chapter by chapter, a day at a time. So, that is exactly what I started doing…that night I started planning and drawing, and just kept right on drawing. No AI, nothing digital, just good old-fashioned ink and paint. I think kids need to see that life is pretty great with a little paint on your hands!
The Bible is full of life-changing stories, people, and messages, and I want to do all that I can to bring those stories to a whole new generation.
Draw with me!
You can definitely just sit back and enjoy the story, but if you feel like picking up your sketchbook and drawing along with me, then go for it! I believe we are all created to create! Maybe you draw the same thing, or maybe you listen to the story and draw the part that sticks out most to you. Either way is great, go get a little ink on your hands and get to drawing!
I’d love to hear from you.
